Maxim Reshetnikov noted the importance of creating the International Association of SEZs of BRICS countries

During the thematic session on the promotion of innovative and digital solutions for sustainable economic growth at the 14th BRICS Economic and Foreign Trade Ministers Meeting in Moscow, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov outlined the creation of a joint association of special economic zones between the BRICS countries as a separate task. 

The Minister noted that active exchange of experience, convergence of standards, as well as direct interaction between BRICS SEZs will allow to use preferential regimes for the growth of mutual trade and cooperation within the association.

“There are more than 2,500 special economic zones in the BRICS countries. It is important to use preferential regimes for the growth of mutual trade and cooperation, - said Maxim Reshetnikov. - BRICS countries need to build interaction between special economic zones. We can start this work already this year”.

Earlier the Association of clusters, technoparks and SEZs of Russia came forward with an initiative to create the International Association of Special Economic Zones of the BRICS countries. 

“The International Association of Special Economic Zones of BRICS countries will unite industry players and create a single platform for information exchange, development of common approaches and assistance to businesses in localization of production. This will simplify localization procedures, harmonize regulation and build new chains of cooperation between BRICS countries,” commented Mikhail Labudin, Director of ACTP RF.

Also within the framework of the event Maxim Reshetnikov presented to colleagues from BRICS countries the English version of the publication “Business Navigator for Special Economic Zones of Russia - 2023” with the VII National Rating of investment attractiveness.
